Creating a memorial piece with Held Ceramics is a simple and thoughtful process. Here is how it works from start to finish.
After placing your order, you will receive a collection kit within 3 to 5 business days. Each kit includes clear instructions, a labeled container, and a prepaid return envelope. Everything you need to safely send a small portion of ashes back to us is included.
When you are ready, use the enclosed utensil to place the ashes in the bag provided and use the prepaid envelope to return the kit to our studio. If you ever have questions during this step, we are here to help.
Once the ashes arrive at Held, our ceramic artist will begin crafting your selected piece. The ashes are incorporated into the glaze with care and intention. This stage takes between 3 and 4 weeks, allowing time for shaping, glazing, and multiple firings.
When your piece is complete, it will be carefully packaged and shipped to your home. The final memorial is one of a kind, created to honor the memory of the pet or person you hold close.
Every piece at Held is hand thrown, hand glazed, and fired in our studio kilns. Because of this you will have a one-of-a-kind piece which may vary slightly in dimensions and coloration.
If you order multiple products, you will receive multiple collection kits to accommodate different ashes if needed. To the left is our glaze glossary with three letter codes for each finish and the products. Your collection kits will be labeled with these codes (for example: SV8-STO is our 8" Signature Vase in Storm). Put the desired ashes in the appropriate bags and send them to us, we use this system to ensure the memorials are made exactly to your liking and order information.
